Our granddaughter was diagnosed with Pre B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 7 weeks. Follow her journey as we, her family, choose to stay positive as we continue to believe in our Happily Ever Avery.
Good news first! Mom was able to nurse and hold Avery for the first time last night and it was good for both of them.
The Oncologist said they expect to see some leukemia in Avery’s spinal cord. In infants, that’s a common place for the cells to migrate.
Avery is reacting to everything (yelling, etc) and isn’t lethargic. She’s been perfectly normal until mom noticed she wasn’t eating much today.
They will also be combining the PICC line with the spinal tap procedure. They can have her with the NICU team in radiology and do everything at once.
They called and said the Drs are bringing in the NICU team today to try to get the PICC line started.
hey tried 3 times to get the PICC line in last night. Avery’s little artery is “mm small” and they just couldn’t get it in.
