Homemade Laundry Detergent
When you have an 11 year old that becomes fascinated with cleaning you don’t really complain.
You just let her go about her business and clean.
I mean, the result is a clean house. Colby, the other clean freak in the house, could not be more proud or happy.
Homemade Laundry Detergent
Jaden wanted to take her cleaning a step further recently by making her own laundry detergent. If it works… and saves us money… I was all for it.
So, Colby and I picked up the ingredients she needed at the store and brought them home to her. She was beyond thrilled to start making her own homemade detergent.
After all, yes, she does her own laundry. All of the kids (minus Joeli) do their own laundry. Part of our home economics curriculum here at the Shipwash Academy. Yay!
Anyways, being the independent one she is… Jaden got right to work on her tutorial with Colby watching and supervising —letting her do her thing and watching to make sure nothing went wrong.
These are not exactly ingredients you typically just hand over to a child. Jaden is probably our most responsible, and Colby was just behind the camera, so we were good.
(You know, disclaimer for any naysayers out there that may think we somehow put our kid in danger).
In all seriousness though, check out the Homemade Laundry Detergent video tutorial Jaden put together! Her skills with the camera and computer always amaze me!

I should add that this laundry detergent is not scented because both Joeli and I are allergic to fragrances. Feel free to add a fragrance to your detergent.
There are a few different ways we saw to add it. In the meantime, give Jaden a thumbs up or share on the video. I know she will appreciate it.
