My kids are excited about the holiday season coming up so quickly. Not to mention, when they think of holiday specials, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang always come to mind. This year, we are all thrilled about The Peanuts Movie coming to theaters on November 6th! While Charlie Brown embarks on an epic quest, his beloved beagle, Snoopy, takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron.
Charlie Brown Rice Krispie Treats
After discovering Market Street had exclusive Peanuts branded shopping bags we could use for trick-or-treating this year, we decided to head to the store! Basically, for a limited time, when you shop at your local Albertsons store, you can get a free Peanuts trick-or-treat bag with the purchase of three participating brands, that include:
- Horizon Organics
- Coke (Honest and Pure Leaf)
- Johnson & Johnson
- Pop Secret
- Snack Pack (ConAgra)
- Schwan’s (Red Baron’s)
- Rich Products (sugar cookies and cakes in the deli)
- ACH Foods/Spice Islands
Unfortunately, the day we arrived they were out of the exclusive bags, but it didn’t stop us from making fun Charlie Brown Rice Krispie Treats! We found everything we needed, and more, as we walked the aisles of Market Street. Horizon Organics are a staple in our home. The kids drink them daily so this product was already on our shopping list.
While looking through the other participating brands we came up with a fun idea. Charlie Brown Rice Krispie Treats! The Kellogg’s Rice Krispies would, of course, make the treat itself, and we could use Nestle Crunch Bars to make the chevron pattern on Charlie Brown’s shirt. Easy!
Using the traditional Rice Krispie Treats recipe on the box, in addition to a bit of yellow coloring, we made our batch of treats. After letting them cool, we cut them into squares and used the Nestle Crunch Bars to create the iconic chevron design across the front of the shirt. The blended flavors made for the perfect treat paired with a Horizons Organic chocolate milk.
Be sure to take a trip to your local Market Soon soon to grab your limited edition reusable Peanuts trick-or-treat bag just in time for Halloween. And, good grief… go see The Peanuts Movie starting on November 6th!
