I am 1 Cupcake Party
I realized today that I have yet to share Princess JR’s 1st birthday party pictures. So, I figured this post should show how we celebrate birthdays on a minimal budget.
I look around at all sorts of stuff I would love to buy and then figure out how to make my own on a small budget. Princess JR’s birthday party was too much fun to put together!
I decided on a cupcake theme simply because it seemed like the best idea for a baby. Besides, cupcakes always seem to be eaten better than cakes, are easier, and simply work for us each time we have them!
Thus, the inspiration for the “I am 1” Cupcake party was born.
Cupcake scrapbook paper (.25¢) and “Sweet Baby” stickers from The Dollar Tree ($1) on a toothpick
Pretty pink and white streamers (.99¢) to welcome the guests
Highchair Banner (I didn’t want to mess it up so I put it on the wall above her highchair):
- cupcake scrapbook paper (.25¢)
- brown card stock (from my collection)
- letters produced on computer & printed in B&W at hubby’s office
- markers to color letters ($1 @ Walmart)
- ribbon (.39¢ clearance @ Hobby Lobby)
- wooden cupcake and tiara (.16¢ clearance at Hobby Lobby)
Smash cake and 2 dozen cupcakes for guests (2 cake mixes and 2 tubs of frosting, candles from The Dollar Tree)
Mylar balloons from The Dollar Tree
Scrapbook paper and card stock from my collection, Curling Ribbon from The Dollar Tree
“I am 1” Birthday shirt (T-shirt $1.50 and iron-on transfer .26¢ clearance @ Hobby Lobby)
Smash cake!
These are just for fun! 🙂
She LOVED the cake… and it truly became a SMASH cake when she lifted it over her head and tore it to pieces!
