Sweet Grapefruit-Strawberry Smoothie
You have probably heard that “everything’s bigger in Texas.” We have a large state and we seem to like things big around here. Recently I discovered that Sweet Scarletts‘ orchards are right here in South Texas. No wonder these Texas Reds are full of great flavor and extra sweet!
Sweet Grapefruit-Strawberry Smoothie
Growing up, I recall several mornings where I would grab a grapefruit for breakfast. Not only was it a quick and easy meal, it was delicious as well. Today, I have found a way to combine one of my favorite desserts with the succulent taste of Sweet Scarletts Texas Red Grapefruit. As a child I would sprinkle a bit of sugar over the top of the grapefruit before jumping in. It was the way my mom would eat it, so it was the flavor I grew up with.
In my adult life, I have become obsessed with smoothies. There is so much flavor and a variety of nutrients you can get from drinking just one smoothie. Not to mention, blending just a couple of ingredients, you can be ready to enjoy the sweet flavor in no time. This means more time for doing the things you love and having a full stomach as you do so.
With the natural sweetness of Sweet Scarletts Texas Red Grapefruits, you really don’t need to add much to the blender to create a delicious drink. Take just a handful of ingredients and you will have a succulent smoothie perfect for any time of the day. Plus, it takes no time to prepare. Add one peeled grapefruit (be sure to deseed as well), 2 cups of strawberries, ½ cup Greek yogurt, a teaspoon of honey (optional) and ice to a blender. Blend on high for about 30 seconds until creamy and then serve.
Mix-in different fruits to find your favorite flavor combination.
