Do you often find yourself needing to get dinner done in a pinch? I am awful about working until the very last minute before the kids “gently remind” me that it is almost dinner time. And, believe me, they do not often let us forget around here that they need to eat dinner.

Baked Penne Casserole

One food that we have found that can really go far with our larger sized family is any pasta dish. Plus, baked pasta recipes are something that everyone agrees on. The kids eat pasta dishes without complaints and there is always plenty to go around.

When we need a dinner we can easily throw in the oven in under 30 minutes, we often go with Baked Penne Casserole or Baked Ziti.

Other than the boiling of the pasta and browning of the meat, we can throw all the ingredients in a casserole dish, put it in the oven, and be ready to eat in 15 minutes.

Seriously! Take a look at how easy this Baked Penne Casserole recipe really is:

Ingredients:

  • 1 box (16 oz) penne pasta
  • 1 (28 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Country Crock Original Spread
  • 1 lb. hamburger meat
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Directions:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to boil for the penne pasta. Add pasta to boiling water.
  2. Brown hamburger meat until no longer pink. Add spaghetti sauce and stir until evenly combined.
  3. Rinse penne pasta when cooked to taste (we prefer al dente pasta) and return to pan. Add 1 tbsp. Country Crock Original Spread to soften pasta. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Layer half of penne into the bottom of a large casserole dish. Then add meat mixture over pasta, topped with a layer of cheese. Repeat process to add a second layer on top.
  5. Bake in oven at 350° for 15 minutes, or until cheese has completely melted.
  6. Serve and enjoy with your family!

You can have dinner ready to serve in under 30 minutes (based on how fast your stove boils water). We can never go wrong when we make Baked Penne. And you can even change the pasta based on your family’s wants.

We simply found penne to be the one the kids eat the best. Crazy, huh? But if you prefer a Baked Ziti Recipe simply follow the directions above using ziti instead. It’s still just as delicious and easy to make.
