I am typically a big coffee drinker. But… there are some times that actually just call for hot chocolate. I am not sure if I am just in the mood for something sweet or if it’s the chocolate calling my name, but I simply go towards the cocoa flavor.
And then other times, you gotta go for something more: Peppermint Hot Chocolate.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate
I don’t know. Maybe it’s the season. Peppermint seems to be the flavor for this time of year… at least for me. There is something but the warm yet cool flavor that embraces all that winter is for me.
And, well chocolate? That is an all-year round flavor. I am not sure it ever goes out of season for me. Sure, there are times when I wish I didn’t care for it so much. Alas, I am a fan. And a big one at that!
Of course, cocoa has a bit of a different flavor. A softer, more subtle taste that is smooth to the taste buds. And when warm? Oh man. It’s like heaven. Sweet, sweet chocolaty heaven.
Now combine the two. The wintry taste of peppermint with the sultry sweet flavor of cocoa. Top with marshmallows and Andes Mints and you have an incredible treat for your taste buds. Peppermint Hot Chocolate.
Just a few ingredients are you are ready to go. From scratch. Stove to your mug.
- Pour the milk, half and half, and white chocolate chips into a saucepan. Heat on a low heat and stir with a whisk until chocolate chips are melted and mixture is heated to desired temp.
- Remove from heat and stir in Peppermint Extract and (optional) food coloring. Whisk together until ingredients are combined.
- Pour into mugs and top with marshmallows, mint candies, or other fun treats. Enjoy!
Plus, this recipe makes 2 cups of hot chocolate so you can sit and enjoy with a friend. I mean, isn’t that the best way to take it all in some days?
Now go indulge and let me know what you think!
