They handed it to me with sincere faces and said they thought I could use a chocolate bar, knowing the anxiety I was feeling.
After I swallowed the lump in my throat, I thanked them and smiled at the sweet gesture from them both.
Then, I promptly HID my cookies and cream candy bar!
Y’all, I have a houseful of kids who can sniff out my secret candy stash. I’m sure other moms out there will understand.
Even if it’s not candy, there’s something to keep away from your kids, right?!
Anyways, I was so excited, but also wanted to make the cookies and cream candy bar last as long as I could.
So, I’d break off two squares each evening and then wrap the rest back up for later.
I even shared two squares with my husband. Well, he saw me open the packaging and asked, so I decided I would share my gift with him.
But, when it came down to those last two squares, I savored them as long as I could because I don’t typically indulge in many chocolate bars.
Let’s be honest. I rarely buy myself anything. Even on trips, I often regret spending money on a hire a van or a hotel trip, I’d rather go on foot and see the area.
I’m simply not that person. Which is probably one reason the kids wanted to buy it.
Man. I truly love these crazy kids of mine.
All that to say, if there’s a way for me to make something myself instead of buying it, I’ll try it. That’s how this recipe came about.
Anyways, I’m sure you’re really only here for the cookies and cream candy bar recipe.

Best Cookies to Use for Cookies & Cream Candy Bar
The beauty of homemade Cookies and Cream Candy Bars is that you get to control the cookie choice!
While classic Oreo cookies are the go-to, there are plenty of delicious options to elevate your candy bar game. Here are some of the best cookies to consider:
1. Classic Oreos (The Original MVP)
You can’t go wrong with classic Oreos—they’re the gold standard for a reason. The slightly bitter cocoa cookie combined with sweet vanilla crème creates the perfect balance when blended into creamy chocolate. For a chunkier texture, fold them in at the end instead of fully crushing them.
2. Double Stuf Oreos (For Extra Creaminess)
Love the creamy filling? Double Stuf Oreos pack even more sweetness into each bite, giving your chocolate bar an extra indulgent, velvety texture.
3. Golden Oreos (A Vanilla Twist)
For a lighter, buttery flavor, swap out the chocolate for Golden Oreos. These vanilla-flavored cookies blend seamlessly into the chocolate, making for a milder yet equally delicious variation.
4. Chocolate Chip Cookies (A Chewy Surprise)
Crushed chocolate chip cookies add a homemade, bakery-style feel to your candy bar. They create a softer, chewier bite compared to crunchier cookies.
5. Fudge Stripe Cookies (Chocolate + Shortbread Bliss)
Want a richer chocolate swirl in your candy bar? Fudge Stripe Cookies bring in a mix of buttery shortbread and a smooth chocolate coating, making every bite extra decadent.
6. Thin Mints (For a Minty Twist)
If you love the combination of mint and chocolate, consider adding crushed Thin Mints for a refreshing upgrade to the classic cookies and cream flavor.
7. Chocolate Wafer Cookies (Pure Cocoa Goodness)
For a deep, dark chocolate flavor without extra sweetness, chocolate wafer cookies (like Famous Chocolate Wafers) are a great alternative. These crisp, cocoa-packed cookies blend well into chocolate without overpowering the vanilla base.
8. Homemade Cookies (Personalized Perfection)
If you’re feeling extra creative, use homemade cookies! Whether it’s soft-baked chocolate chip, peanut butter, or even snickerdoodles, making your own cookies lets you tailor the flavor and texture to your liking.
Pro Tip: For the best texture, fold in larger cookie chunks toward the end of the churning process. This keeps them from breaking down too much and ensures you get that signature cookies-and-cream crunch in every bite!
