It is not everyday that this Texas girl gets to hob knob with celebrities. Especially ones with the stigma behind them that Tim Burton or Winona Ryder carry. Yet, last night I was on the same carpet as them all. Well, technically they were on the white carpet and I was on the red carpet behind them but you know what I mean.
Frankenweenie Red Carpet
After spending some time with the three amazingly smart and fun young actors from the film (interview post coming soon), we walked over to The Capitan Theater for the premiere. When we arrived, the stars were already starting to make their way down the white carpet. In fact, as I stepped onto the red carpet, Winona Ryder was on the white carpet. I wanted to grab a picture but was hurried along so we could clear the background for the picture. I did grab another shot later at the after party though. This one included Tim Burton!
Yes, Tim Burton was exhilarating to see. The man carries with him an aurora of greatness and it was incredible to be standing in the same room with him. He is a genius in his field and unlike many others. Tim Burton’s films are unique and entertaining… just as he seemed to be.
Now, imagine sitting in a theater, turning around and seeing Martin Short headed down the aisle near you. I know right? As we were sitting in our seats talking, we noticed the theater filling up. The stars were making their way to their seats and were in the middle section of the floor. We were just to the right of them. Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, and Martin Landau all came down our aisle. I have watched all three of them in several movies over the course of my life, so, again, I was quite star struck to be in their presence.
After the movie, which was incredible, we walked over to a nearby location for a private premiere party. Again, wow! All the same characters above now, once more, in a much smaller room with me. There were the characters and voices from the movie, as well as celebrity friends out to join in the celebration as well. In fact, one quite noticeable star was Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
I remember watching Elvira when I was a kid. I wanted to grab a picture for my dad, but did not want to throw a camera in her face either. Therefore, I got a few but was more trying to leave in the moment. I mean, it was ELVIRA! And I told my husband later, she looked incredible. Especially when I think about her age. Just amazing. All smiles and seemed to be very personable. She never had a moment to herself and was enjoying the night.
Our evening ended as we made our way around and once again ran into Robert Capron. This young man is on the road to great things. Just turning 14 in July, he already has a career goal ahead of him and I see no reason why he will not get there. After taking a fun picture with him, we were able to just talk to his dad for about 30 minutes. We asked question after question… and he asked us some as well. The blogging job always brings a few questions when someone realizes what it is you do.
All in all, it was a night to remember and will be logged into those “once in a lifetime” events in my life. I am incredible grateful to Marshall and the Disney company for the opportunity that was given to me.
Disclosure: I was treated to airfare and accommodations courtesy for Disney for this event. No other compensation was given. All opinions are 100% my own.
