2012 has been a pretty amazing year for myself and my family. We have had incredible experiences and seen growth in some areas, losses in others, and are confident about the upcoming year.

But, we want to continue to try to make a difference in the life of others. Pouring into those around us is gratifying for both our family and the receiving party.

Have you ever thought about volunteering?

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Did you know that Latino Bigs volunteers come from all walks of life and do not need special training or a degree? There are no classes needed when you are looking to positively influence the life of a child.

The ability to make a big impact in a child’s life is already afforded to each and every one of us… we simply have to take the initiative to make it happen.

Big Brothers Big Sisters offers full support for their volunteers and will match you with a “little” near you based on your personality and preferences. each visit does not have to be a huge deal… no special activities or expensive outings are needed.

These children are simply looking for lasting friendships from a caring mentor. And male volunteers are in high demand considering 70% of the children on the wait list are boys.

Only 3 out of every 10 volunteers are men so the demand is high, yet the workers are few.

With the New Year coming up, now is a perfect time to resolve to volunteer and make a difference in the life of a child. These children need a self-esteem boost and you may just be the one that can do it.

Sharing a personal testimony, showing them how to work a math problem, or simply talking over a game of catch can make a huge impact on the life of a child. Making memories and building relationships is what each of these children need.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters programs are trying to obtain educational success, as well help these kids avoid risky behaviors and socio-emotional competency.

How can you help?
