Disclosure: For a summer celebration, as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias®, my girls and I celebrated with Disney’s Little Mermaid. All opinions are 100% my own. #DreamParty #CBias
Do you really need a reason to celebrate with cake and ice cream? My girls and I thought the fact it was summer was enough reason to party! Therefore, we decided to have an Under the Sea celebration with Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
The Little Mermaid
My girls love anything Disney.
Being girls, they dream of being a Disney Princess. Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine or Ariel. It does not matter which one, they like them all.
So when we decided to have a Disney Princess-themed party, we began brainstorming ideas.
Since we are in the middle of a hot, Texas summer we thought an “Under the Sea” party would be a great idea. Plus, we could incorporate ice cream!
Considering we typically get all of our birthday cakes at Walmart, we knew we needed to head there for our summer celebration cake.
Not to mention, since they are a popular place to buy cakes, we made sure to stop in 2 days in advance to order our cake. Keeping in mind that Walmart is also where we find the best birthday toys, Colby and I thought the girls could each have a new toy as well.
It has been a family tradition to celebrate “half-birthdays” and combining all of those during this celebration seemed practical. And I am all about practical.
The girls picked out a fun Little Mermaid cake from Walmart, as well as a Disney Princess scene setter, table cloth, centerpiece, plates, cups and door decoration.
And no party is complete without a fun craft for everyone to do. At least, not one of my girls’ parties. They do love their crafts!
The toys were the fun part. Of course, we already had most of the Disney-themed toys.
The dolls, castle, make-up kits, dress-up sets… we had to look for something different.
But my “Princess” never says from her favorite: make-up.
So, we bought a basket full of princess goodies: make-up, nail polish, lip gloss, a tiara and a scepter. JJ picked out the craft (her favorite thing to do).
And Monkey wanted a Play-doh set.
It is her latest fascination and perfect for her sensory issues. She found a Little Mermaid set that fit our theme perfectly and was just what she had been wanting.
When our dream party day arrived the girls could not wait to put up all the decorations. We easily transformed our dining room into a princess castle with the scene setter.
The girls set up the table with the tablecloth and all the decorations while I prepared the ice cream bar.
Wanting to keep our “under the sea” theme, I took some graham crackers and crushed them to create “sand” for sprinkling over our ice cream.
Plus, while at Walmart picking up our cake and other party foods, I remembered to grab white sugar pearls (to represent pearls, of course) and snowflake sprinkles (to look like underwater flowers).
We were also able to find Goldfish snacks in so many different varieties at Walmart.
With all the choices, we felt as though they made the perfect party snack and we did not need anything else.
We bought the Cookies and Cream, S’mores, and Vanilla Cupcake bags to match our theme and sprinkle on the ice cream.
With a few friends over, our party was underway. I planned ahead by using the party tip above (scooping ice cream into cupcake cups and freezing) it was easy to serve the guests.
Each party guest could pick one or two scoops of ice cream, a cone or bowl, and the toppings we picked up at Walmart. Chocolate, caramel, and peanut butter cup syrup.
The sand, pearls, and flowers. Goldfish of all varieties. And even Redi-Whip.
We even set out root beer for making root beer floats. In fact, that was how I chose to eat my ice cream!
Coupled with the sub(marine) sandwiches, raspberry lemonade, sour octopus candies, and gummy fish all from Walmart we had a full serving of party foods.
The cake was deliciously moist and the perfect sweet combination with our ice cream bar.
I think it is safe to say the girls had a fabulous time with their friends.
Cake, ice cream, Disney Princessess… everything a girl needs to have a fantastic celebration.
Finding everything we needed for our party was a cinch at Walmart. From the cake to the decorations, toys to party favors, and all the food and supplies.
We had all we need to enjoy a great summer celebration with our family and friends.
