If you know me, I am all about simple and easy. I am not afraid to throw together a few items from the pantry to create something to just throw on the table. It’s the way our society functions nowadays.
Strawberry Shortcake Flag Cake
We want everything to be quick and easy. Hence all the fast food restaurants around. You know it’s true.
Therefore, in true “quick and easy” fashion, we decided to spruce up one of my favorite desserts just in time for the summer’s most patriotic holidays: Strawberry Shortcake! Yum!
The ingredients were all pretty much the same, with one addition, just presented in a new way!
Ingredients:
- Angel Food Cake mix
- Oil
- Eggs
- Water
- Cooking spray
- Cool Whip
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Strawberry fruit filling
Make the Angel Food Cake as instructed on the box and let cool completely.
Top with a layer of strawberry fruit filling and then cover with a thicker layer of Cool Whip. Insert blueberries in the top left corner of the cake directly into the Cool Whip.
Slice the strawberries into eighths. Alternating two sliced pieces of the strawberries, create the flags stripes across the cake.
Done!
