During the winter holiday season, my family is all about food. As I am sure it is the same for you, Thanksgiving and Christmas bring together some of the best family recipes!

We continue to make the turkey, dressing, potato salad and pies just the way I remember my grandmother making them. Those traditions are what we look forward to each year.

But, there is also not a better time to introduce new recipes. This year, my daughter and I created a great tasting one!

While walking around Target, Cheyenne and I were trying to decide on what we wanted to snack on with our coffee this year.

Between cooking, serving and other duties of the day, we mostly enjoy sitting and enjoying the time with our family. Playing games, talking and laughing seem to be better when accompanied by great tasting foods.

Either as a pre-cursor to our meal — or the finishing touch — it seems to be the ideal way to spend the day.

In an effort to add a festive flavor to our coffee, we discovered that both International Delight and Dunkin’ Donuts were featuring holiday indulgences.

International Delight’s holiday flavors included Peppermint Mocha, Frosted Sugar Cookie and White Chocolate Raspberry, whereas Dunkin’ Donuts had Extra Extra, Vanilla and Caramel.

I will always pick Caramel, but Chey wanted to try the Extra Extra in an incredibly fun holiday recipe idea. Together we came up with a tasty list of ingredients and had a great time making the recipe together to share with the family.

We knew right away we wanted to make a Monkey Bread recipe. We do it every year and it typically serves as a terrific breakfast considering we can eat while cooking.

The pull-apart bites are easy to eat while moving and keep the need for dishes to a minimum.

With that in mind, we began considering how we could change it up a bit. Walking down the holiday aisle, we had a fabulous idea: S’mores Monkey Bread.

A little chocolate and marshmallow inside the monkey bread, covered in a delicious glaze made with the Dunkin’ Donuts Extra Extra, had us drooling just thinking about it!

Putting everything together was simple and only took a few ingredients. Working together in the kitchen, we were easily able to assemble the pull-apart bites, bake and glaze the S’mores Monkey Bread for our holiday get-together.

In fact, once we set the finished monkey bread on the table, I barely had the chance to grab a picture before it was gone! Each bite oozed with chocolate-marshmallow goodness and was covered in the Extra Extra glaze.

The glazed icing by the way? It taste just like a deliciously, creamy vanilla ice cream melted over the s’mores monkey bread.

So, think s’mores with ice cream… with a side of equally tasty coffee. It was the absolute perfect way to indulge during our family holiday together.
