Schlitterbahn Beach Resort

Located at the tip of South Padre Island, the Schlitterbahn Beach Resort is nestled on the beach of the Gulf Of Mexico. The blue waters and clean sand in the area are the backdrop for the resort and its fun-filled indoor waterpark… as well as the nearby outdoor waterpark.

Upon arriving, we were immediately able to check into our room (early) and relax for a little bit after our 10 hour road trip from Dallas. We were actually impressed they were able to accommodate our early check-in because most of our travel experiences do not. But, we went straight to our 2 queen bed room and got unpacked and changed so we could head down to the beach.

The South Padre Island beach was literally right out our window. We had a beach view and it was beautiful to wake up to each  morning.

Just below our window was the resort’s only saltwater pool. It was the perfect depth for the girls to play and right next to the Seaside Grill. Therefore, the kids were able to swim and enjoy the water while we waited for lunch. We were then served lunch poolside and able to enjoy the ambiance of the gulf waves hitting the shore.

Afterwards, we made the trek back down to the beach again to enjoy the sand between our toes once again.

With the room stay, we were also given access to the Schiltterbahn Outdoor Waterpark. We were able to easily catch a shuttle back and forth between the two. The kids enjoyed being able to play at both parks during our stay.

The indoor waterpark was perhaps their favorite during our stay simply because they pretty much had the entire place to themselves. (Another benefit of homeschooling). Oh, Colby and I really enjoyed the roof of the indoor waterpark. It is one-of-a-kind and can easily be opened or closed to accommodate the weather for year round fun in the water.

After each day’s activities, it was nice to be able to simply walk back to the room and relax. The beds were surely inviting and the room was made for comfort. By the way, we were impressed by the awesome nightstands in the room. Our insightful and friendly shuttle bus driver gave us valuable insight into the resort, such as upcoming plans of a water way connecting the 2 parks, and an interesting little tidbit about the nightstand. Each room includes a log that was recovered from a large wildfire in Bastrop, TX. The logs make beautiful pieces of furniture in the rooms and are such a great homage to the Texas landscape. She said she counted over 100 rings on one log. Our room’s tree had been just over 80 years old.

At the end of the day, we were delightfully worn out. We did all that we could and made sure to maximize every moment we had at the Schlitterbahn Beach Resort. Whether relaxing by the pool, playing in the Gulf waves, sliding down water slides, trying to boogie board, or soaking in the heated swim-up bar area… we made sure we fully experienced all the resort had to offer.
