From furniture pieces to home decor, there is plenty to do.

But, one of the first things we wanted to take care of was making sure we had a connected home through our partnership with Best Buy .

3 Reasons to Have a Connected Home

Connected Home

The ability to easily control all the technology in our house from one device has simply become convenient and efficient for us.

In fact, if you think about it, there are many reasons why people are interested in a smart home beyond the convenience factor.

The three best reasons I can think of for having a connected home include:

  • Energy savings
  • Security
  • Cost-effective

First, you need a good “home base” for your products. Let me introduce you to Google Home.

This voice-activated speaker uses voice commands to help you enjoy music, get answers from Google, and even manage everyday tasks.

When connected to other smart devices, you can stream videos to your TV, dim your lighting and turn up your thermostat and use voice commands with Google Home.

Nest + Google Home

Start with the Nest Learning Thermostat. Air conditioning and heating typically account for a large portion of your utility bill, right?

Here in the South, trying to stay cool during the dog days of summer can take its toll on your pocketbook.

The Nest learns your habits and will automatically begin to regulate your home’s temperature.

For example, we turn the air down at night because we like it nice and cool when we’re sleeping.

Therefore, the Nest has learned our routine and begins to cool the house down just before bedtime each night.

But, if we’re going to be up later, we can ask Google Home to turn the temperature up.

By connecting the two devices, they are able to network to help us save energy in addition to lowering our utility costs.

Google Home HiFi speaker

And when you’re not asking Google Home to control your temperature or dim your lights, you can simply enjoy your favorite music through the high-excursion speaker it was meant to be.

What is your reason for wanting a connected home?

You can find the Nest Learning Thermometer, Google Home, and several other great smart devices at your local Best Buy or online at BestBuy.com.
