I guess it was a good thing we went to the grocery store last week and picked up some more great-tasting Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches. Who would have thought I would get sick with the flu and be down for 5 days?! My poor husband has been working double time trying to keep up with his usual routine, as well as mine. Fortunately, the kids love the Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches and that means dinner is easier for my husband.
Dinner for the Kids
After attending a nice, quaint and romantic New Year’s Eve wedding with some friends, I came home, took some Tylenol for a headache and went to bed. When I woke up Sunday morning I felt as though I had been run over by a truck and my family went to church without me. I ended up sleeping until after 1pm on Sunday and could hardly stay awake all day. Monday was much of the same.
The rest of the week has been similar with me spending a lot of time in bed and my family moving on around me. At least we had groceries out of the way after my husband and I took Monkey and Princess to the store last week to grab stuff for the week ahead. That meant buying for our weekend football games, lunch while everyone was still home on break, as well as a few things for breakfast and dinner to fill in where we were missing.
We decided to grab some Mini Chicken Sandwiches so that my hubby and I could feed them to the kids one night before heading out for a quick date night before my trip out of town this weekend. We did not realize I would be in bed all week and the sandwiches would become a quick dinner for my hubby to make the kids so he could tend to me.
Unfortunately, we seemed to miss the Kraft and Tyson demo at our local store, but were still able to pick up some Kraft BBQ sauce while at the store. Since the younger girls have never really asked for BBQ sauce as a condiment we were not sure how they were going to like it.
SuperDad and Jake popped 2 packages of the chicken sandwiches into the microwave and helped the girls prepare their dinner. Of course, JJ added the BBQ sauce and cheese to her sandwich while Princess just wanted the sauce.
Plus, in an effort to eat healthier this year, they both chose apple slices and celery as a side. Some juice on the side and they were both set for dinner. Amazingly, they both ate both sandwiches, plus their fruit and veggies. In the meantime, my son and husband helped finish off some of the other chicken sandwiches and Monkey had her own dinner and some apples.
Me? Well, after eating nothing but Lime Sherbet all week with a side of 7Up, I was finally able to graduate to Ramen Noodles… oh, and 1 Pop Tart just for grins earlier in the day. *Sigh* I am so ready to get back to a normal diet!
