conair prom

We are heading into the last leg of my oldest daughter’s high school days. Plans are underway for her upcoming graduation and after-party. College entrance exam done. College applications sent. Everything is going at lightning speed. And prom is quickly approaching. Her final high school dance and, of course, Senior Prom is always a big deal. Therefore, every aspect of the dress, hair, nails, shoes and more have to be perfect!

Prepping for Prom

After shopping for almost 3 hours to find the perfect dress, we must make sure we continue prepping for prom to make the night paramount. With only 2 weeks to go before the dance arrives, my daughter, Pepper, and I wanted to find her a suitable hairstyle to match her amazing dress. Therefore, we perused the Conair flipbook for the perfect curls. Knowing that her straight, fine hair is tough to hold a curl, we wanted a natural, flowing look that would hold. We found an easy style that would work great.

We took note of the type of curling iron we would need to use and headed to Walmart to grab the supplies. {You can view more pictures from the shopping trip on Google+}. My oldest, my toddler and I were in the truck and out the door early and found a good selection at the store once we arrived. We found the Infiniti by Conair® 1″ Professional Tourmaline Ceramic™ Curling Iron, as well as the 1½” which Pepper {my daughter} thought would work best for her hair. We grabbed some hair spray and bobby pins before leaving and went home to begin curling Pepper’s hair.

While letting the curling iron warm up, we put the top half of Pepper’s hair in a bun on top of her head to start curling the bottom half.

We plugged in the Infiniti by Conair® 1½” Curling Iron, along with her Conair straightening iron for just in case, and were ready to start making curls.

Next, we were ready to get some curls going. We grabbed a section of hair, wrapped it around the barrel of the curling iron, held it there for a second, and then slid the hair out of the hot iron.

Pepper gave each twirl a twist after releasing to tighten them up a little and then we sprayed them with hairspray to hold.

After curling selected sections of her hair all the way around she was happy with the results. The curls were not too tight as they tend to have been before, and they were holding up in the Texas heat. She gladly put on her dress and we snagged a few pre-Prom photos.

Pepper also wanted to see what her hair would look like if she threw it up into a pony tail… just in case she changed her mind come Prom time! So, we threw it up into a loose ponytail, refreshed the curls as they hung off her head, and grabbed a quick shot in the sunlight.

Only a few more weeks to go and we still have to finish tying everything together. Special nails have been ordered. The search for shoes and jewelry is on. But, we have a dress and we have a hairstyle. We are almost there!
