Bounty NFL Play 60 Dallas Camp

Even though Colby and I have 4 daughters,  football is still a big deal in our home. And our lone son is not the only one who watches the games in our house. Our girls show just as much interest. Therefore, when our middle two daughters had the opportunity to spend some time on the Dallas Cowboys Field during NFL PLAY 60 Character Camp they were excited.

Well, okay, after they experienced the time on the field they were more excited. They understood the reason behind the NFL PLAY 60 Character Camp as well as the significance of the opportunity they were given. Plus, after running a few drills and interviewing  Hall of Fame offensive tackle Anthony Muñoz, they got it.

But it wasn’t just our 2 daughters that were able to partake in the event. There were approximately 400 local Dallas kids, between the ages of 7 and 13, out on the field running and playing hard for 60 minutes.

Not only were the kids taught basic football skills, but they were given life application lessons in 8 character areas:

  1. Loyalty
  2. Faith
  3. Integrity
  4. Gratefulness
  5. Self-Control
  6. Responsibility
  7. Honor
  8. Truthfulness

As a parent, I was thrilled to hear this. Certainly important life skills all children… and adults alike… need to know. And it came full circle when at the end of the day a question was asked and the answer was spot on. The question? “What is integrity?

The answer?

When you do something you know is right even when no one else is looking.

It definitely brought home the true meaning behind the NFL PLAY 60 Character Camp. Even Mr. Muñoz said it was moments like that meant the most. That made the experience worth it for him.

After working hard for 60 minutes, the kids were then treated to an interactive cooking demonstration… plus fed a nutritious lunch to finish out their day. Not to mention, each attendee received Bounty paper towels and an NFL football upon departure. All a fitting reward for a job well done.

The NFL PLAY 60 Character Camp works in collaboration with USA Football and their NFL FLAG curriculum, which introduces children to football by teaching basic skills in a non-contact setting.
