We all have great plans for the New Year, right? I mean, who does not like a “new beginning” every now an then. I, like many others, had great plans and, of course, wanted to get started right away. After spending my New Year’s Eve at a romantic wedding with some old friends of ours, we grabbed our girls from my parents, came home to watch the ball drop {came home early to miss the crazies on the road}, and went to bed. Yes, nothing exciting, but enough for us.

The next morning we awoke to our Sunday morning alarm, as usual, only I could not get out of bed. My head was throbbing and I had a fever. Now, I had a bit of a headache the night before, but nothing like this. Therefore, SuperDad got the kids up and ready and they left me sleeping while they all went to church. I awoke around noon to my husband watching football and then fell back asleep. An hour later I awoke again to the girls in the bath. The rest of the day I only got up from the bed twice.

New year

After sleeping much of Sunday, I did not get much sleep at all that night. I took some Excedrin Migraine in hopes of loosing the headache, but it seemed to keep me up all night. I was really jittery and every time I tried to close my eyes I saw scary visions. No idea why? I have taken Excedrin before but this time it just did not like me. Finally, I was able to go to sleep around 5am and slept until 8:30am. That was it.

Fortunately for me, my husband was home on Monday and able to help take care of me and the kids. It was on this day we realized I must have the flu based on the symptoms. Fever, aches, cramps, nausea, congestion, headache, fatigue. I spent the day fighting nausea and the headache, as well as an off-and-on fever. It was crazy, especially considering I have had 2 flu shots in the last 12 months {the last one in October}.

Nonetheless, that evening my husband drugged me up with a different medicine that knocked me out cold and I slept a full 10 hours. Still achy, still weak, still feverish. Ugh! My hubby only lets me get on the computer for about an hour each night so that I can get rest. The girls have still been home but go back to school today. I am hopeful that I am nearing the end of this crazy illness. I mean, I have blogging to do, emails to check, places to go, people to see. You know… life to live!

Here’s hoping I am back to 100% in the next couple of days!
