A new car has joined the ranks of the Mazda lineup. It is the CX-50 SUV. The CX-50 Turbo arrives with a more powerful engine and all-wheel drive. The CX-50 isn’t much larger than its predecessor, the CX- 5, but it has more rugged styling.
Mazda CX-50 Turbo Premium Plus
The 50 is available in a variety of trim packages with the Premium Plus being the top of the line in terms of styling and comfort. Here is what to expect from the 2023 CX-50 Turbo Premium Plus.
Engine, Performance, and Fuel Economy
The Mazda CX-50 Turbo sports a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with the Turbo model having 256 horsepower. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard. All-wheel-drive is also standard.
This crossover SUV sits lower to the ground and handles the road beautifully with crisp turning around corners. When tested at 75 mph highway driving, the fuel economy was 28 mpg.
Interior Styling, Comfort, and Cargo Space
The CX-50 offers adequate space for five passengers in two rows of seats. The large dashboard vents give the 50 a slightly rugged look. Yet, the overall feel is definitely more upscale than the 50’s baby brother the CX-30.
The loaded Premium Plus front seats are comfortable and supportive. The rear seat space is generous with really good headroom. As with all models, the tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, push-button start, and digital gauge display are standard. Cargo space is definitely more than adequate for gear for a family.
Technology and Infotainment
The Premium package features a larger 10.3-inch screen with the Mazda Connect interface that is controlled by a click wheel mounted on the center console.
All CX models come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with wireless connectivity. The Premium Plus model comes with a 12-speaker Bose stereo system with SiriusXM satellite radio.
A wireless phone charger is only available on the Turbo Premium Plus package.
Safety and Driver-Assistance
Like all the CX-50 trims, a full suite of safety and driver-assistance features is standard. This includes, among other features, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
There are also automatic high-beam headlamps and a 360-degree exterior camera system.
Mazda CX-50 Turbo Bottom-Line
If you are looking for a rugged family car that is also well-appointed and comfortable, the new Mazda CX-50 Turbo Premium Plus hits all the marks. It handles the road seamlessly, can take on many terrains, and has all the safety features built-in.
At the same time, it is super comfy and has a great infotainment system with state-of-the-art connectivity. Have a look for yourself at Mazdausa.com.
