If you watched the the 56th Annual Grammy Awards® this past Sunday, you may have seen a 90-second sneak peek of Disney’s Maleficent.
Growing up, most of us most likely watched and know the story of “Sleeping Beauty.” We hear the tale as told through Aurora and her three fairy godmothers who look after her. But what about the other side of the story? After all, there are always two sides to every story, correct?
Maleficent explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic. We are able to explore the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her once pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the king’s newborn daughter, Aurora (Elle Fanning). As she grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
Award-winning, American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey even recorded a unique reimagining of the renowned fairy-tale tune from the Disney’s classic with “Once Upon a Dream.” The song will be featured in the closing credits of the upcoming film. Plus, now through February 3rd, download the song exclusively on Google Play for free and listen to it again and again.
