Last week, as we were waiting for the first biopsy results, I began listening to “Rescue” by Lauren Daigle on repeat.

The words spoke straight to my heart and helped me stay focused on the hope that Avery would be okay.

“I will send out an army to find you
In the middle of the darkest night
It’s true, I will rescue you
I will never stop marching to reach you
In the middle of the hardest fight
It’s true, I will rescue you.”

“Rescue” by Lauren Daigle

That our prayers, along with all of you interceding on her behalf, would be heard.

And, more importantly, answered.

Yesterday, we got the news that Avery was in REMISSION.

Today, she is officially being discharged!

After 40 days in the hospital, Avery is coming home!

Well, sorta home.

We’ll be staying at an Airbnb near the hospital for the next cycle to be close to the ER and her doctors in case anything comes up.

She will begin her next chemo cycle on Thursday. Since it’s her first time with this regimen, and high risk status due to her age, she’ll stay for a couple days to access any side effects.

Then, she’ll only need to go to the hospital once a week for chemo… until her next cycle (which is inpatient again).

We still have another 2-3 years of treatments, but we’re ready to keep fighting alongside our little warrior.

How can you help from home?

First, prayer. We need to continue to storm the gates of heaven for Avery.

Their biggest tangible needs are food and money. Even with insurance, the costs are undoubtedly going to continue to add up.

For starters, we set up a GoFundMe with a tentative amount that will most likely go up as we continue: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-baby-avery-beat-leukemia

To help them stay fed while at the hospital, we’ve found DoorDash gift cards are best: https://doordash.launchgiftcards.com/
