Family Road Trip to The Lodge at Eagle Crest – Holiday Inn Resort

Disclosure: Thanks to Holiday Inn for partnering with us on our stay at The Lodge at Eagle Crest, as well as Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Salt Lake City-Airport West. Regardless, all opinions and experiences are our own.

When we sat down and began discussing a family road trip, we all knew the Pacific Northwest was the region we wanted to explore. Considering I was the only one that had been, I fell in love with it and desperately wanted to take the family. Therefore, we partnered with Holiday Inn and set out on what would become one of our most memorable road trips to date!

The Lodge at Eagle Crest

After 2 days of traveling through California, we arrived at The Lodge at Eagle Crest, a Holiday Inn Resort. Even pulling up during the evening hours, we could see the beauty of the grounds. Located just outside the city of Redmond and sitting on 1,700 acres, there is a lot to be explored and we tried to take in as much as we could during our stay! From breakfast at Aerie Café in the lobby to dinner at Niblick and Greene’s on property, there was plenty to see and do to work up a hunger.

Putt-Putt Golf

In addition to their two championship golf courses, The Ridge Course and The Resort Courses, and the tough 18-hole, par-63 Challenge Course, Eagle Crest Resort even has an 18-hole putting course for families to enjoy together. We may not be avid golfers, but we do play a mean game of putt-putt and the course was the nicest we have played on. Complete with sand traps and long, challenging drives, the course was an ideal way to start our day with the girls. They appreciated the demanding course as it pushed them to try harder and I really enjoyed the view while watching them play. The Oregon countryside is definitely one to be savored.

The Spa at Eagle Crest

Colby and I were fresh off a 4-day press trip when the kids arrived in LA to begin our road trip. Therefore, after going non-stop and traveling in a car for 2 days, a visit to the Spa was more than in order. Colby and I reveled in the time we were able to spend getting our first Couple’s Massage, while the kids each enjoyed their own spa service. Manicures, back massages, body wraps and a pedicure were all services we were able to take part in during our hour and half at The Spa. The staff was extremely friendly and eager to serve our needs so that we could relax and simply take  it all in. And we truly did. The Spa Therapists sent us off to our next adventure feeling refreshed and renewed!

The first thing that the kids noticed when we looked at Eagle Crest Resort was horseback riding. Therefore, the first thing we booked was an hour long trail ride for myself and the 5 older kids. The horses were absolutely beautiful (and wonderfully tame), our guides were knowledgeable, friendly and patient, and the ride was majestic and wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with smiles and kind gestures. They gave us a quick lesson on riding and then paired us up with the appropriate horses. The girls were given helmets for safety and then mounted our horses. As we rode, we talked, laughed and simply took our time breathing in the views and fresh air. It was truly one of the most magical moments from our entire trip.

Christmas at Holiday Inn Eagle Crest Resort

Special Events

Being this close to Christmas, Eagle Crest Resort had a host of exciting Holiday Events going on. We were able to tour Starfest, mile long animated holiday light exhibit, from a Horse Drawn Carriage — in the snow — to get the full winter experience. Plus, Friday night we listened to the seasonal songs of carolers in the lobby, then on Saturday morning, we ate a delicious breakfast with Corky the Elf. Not to mention, the Resort was splendidly decorated for the season to allow guests to truly experience the magic of Christmas during their stay.

Finally, last but not least, the rooms were exquisite. We had a beautiful view off our balcony of the Resort Golf Course. With our entire family sharing the Suite and shared guestroom, there was still plenty of space to move about and have our own bed for sleeping. We even had a kitchenette which was perfect for our road trip snacks and more. In true Holiday Inn style, our stay truly exceeded our expectations and we had everything we could possibly need for a comfortable stay — and then some.
