Disclosure: We received a copy of Teen Beach Movie on DVD to facilitate the review. Regardless, all opinions are 100% our own.
I cannot believe how quickly the summer flew by! I guess it always does really… but it’s August already! Wow. Luckily, my girls were able to ride the last wave of summer with the cast of Teen Beach Movie. With the movie now out on DVD, they can watch it over and over again.
Teen Beach Movie
What would happen if “West Side Story” met Disney? Well, you would get Teen Beach Movie. Actually though, it’s “Wet Side Story,” the classic beach party movie favored by Brady (Ross Lynch). The 60’s movie features surfers and bikers both trying to take ownership of the beach hangout, Big Momma’s. But little do high school sweethearts Brady and Mack (Maia Mitchell) know that they will find themselves intertwined in the lives of the “Wet Side Story” cast after a surfing incident.
Finding that they may have inadvertently changed the course of the romantic storyline, Brady and Mack must work together to ensure that things remain the same. And, at some point, they have to try to get back to their own world outside the realm of the movie.
The movie has an incredible soundtrack as the couple are pulled into the 60’s style musical. Not to mention, there are choreographed dance sequences and plenty of fun for the cast and audience alike. Getting up and singing along while following the dance steps became natural to my girls.
We watched the movie the night it premiered on TV and have watched it on DVD a few times since then. We even had a little Teen Beach Movie watching party. The DVD (in stores on 7/30) comes with a free surfboard zipper pull and has bonus features that include exclusive dance rehearsal footage.
