JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa

Relaxing in Luxury at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa

We are huge fans of San Antonio. We have made several trips down there this past year and always have a great time while there. Last month we were able to head down once again to attend SeaWorld’s Halloween festivities.

But, I must admit, we almost did not make it to SeaWorld simply because we did not want to leave our hotel. It was beyond amazing and there was so much to do without leaving the resort.

The kids had a blast and we were able to actually get some relaxing in.

The Hill Country is absolutely beautiful. The rolling hills of green and tree after tree… just incredible scenery. Therefore, being able to stay at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio was a delightful experience.

Nestled on 750 acres of nature preserve, the surrounding area is both serene and breath-taking. We even encountered 3 deer one evening as we were driving in from SeaWorld.

Relaxing in Luxury

I wish I would have thought to turn on a video camera when we came upon the resort. As we topped a hill, we saw the resort like a castle on top of the next hilltop. The kids pointed and gasped.

They were in shock by its majesty simply from the road… and we had no idea how incredible it would get once we drove closer.

From the moment you drive up you feel as though you are royalty. Every member of the staff is there to serve you and make you comfortable during your stay.

Relaxing in Luxury

Deluxe Room

When we walked into our room I was speechless. In fact, when I walked into both rooms I was speechless. Knowing we had adjoining rooms to accommodate our family size,

I simply picked a door and walked in. I found the spacious 460 sq feet of the Deluxe Room behind the first door. A king-size bed and sleeper sofa accompanied the spectacular view of the resort grounds below.

The bathroom was an incredible size and there was plenty of room for the teens to move about. Now to see the adjoining room.

Executive Suite

I slowly opened the door and had to step out and back in. It was absolutely stunning to take in. The adjoining room was an Executive Suite. 1,048 sq feet of luxury within a separate bedroom and living area.

The welcoming foyer area held a closet and bar area with the fridge underneath. There was a walkway straight ahead to the open living area, and a door in the other direction that went into the bathroom.

The living room had a sleeper sofa, work space, 37″ LCD HDTV, and a balcony. Moving into the spacious bedroom, we found a large king-size bed, another work space and 37″ LCD HDTV, as well as the rest of the balcony.

The room was spacey and yet cozy all at once.  The bathroom was even quite large with a tub and a roomy walk-in shower. And, for the record, the bed was incredibly comfortable and enticingly soft to sleep in.

River Bluff Water Experience

River Bluff Water Experience

The balcony overlooked the River Bluff Water Experience, as well as the 2 award-winning golf courses, on the grounds of the resort. The view was amazing and added to the serenity and relaxing feel of our stay.

Eating breakfast and listening to the nighttime silence on the balcony was easily two of my favorite things to do while there.

But, the kids stayed entertained by busying themselves with the many activities offered by the resort. Not only was there the River Bluff Water Experience, which includes a 650 foot rapid river, slides, pools, whirlpools, and more, but there was also a fitness room, arcade, and daily activities.

The on-location kid’s program was a perfect way for the kids to enjoy their stay… their way. Photo scavenger hunts, star gazing, s’mores, and rubber duck races were just a few of the events that were going on the weekend we were there.

They have a monthly calendar of events just planned and waiting for guests to arrive.

Largest Spa in Texas

And don’t think the activities are lacking for the adults. With Lantana Spa, the largest spa in Texas, on the property, there is plenty to entertain you as well! In fact, you do not even have to leave the resort to eat.

We were able to dine at the Cibolo Moon where the food was simply delicious. Plus, the in-room dining was just as tantalizing and always came quickly and was served warm.

With seven distinct restaurants, you have a variety of choices and each features ingredients grown in the chef’s garden on the property. Yes, I was delighted to hear that they grow their own herbs and such, and use locally grown ingredients for their culinary experience.

Even their bread is all made in-house… except for the bagels. And wine? Yep… they make that too! Truly remarkable how sustainable the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa is!

Chef's Garden

JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa will be be beginning their seasonal festivities soon with the JW Holiday Illumination on November 17th and will run through the end of the year.

I will write more about in a few weeks… but I can tell you it is going to be A-MA-ZING! Think polar plunges and breakfast with Santa fun! You will not want to miss out!

Disclosure: We received a complimentary stay at the resort for the sole purpose of the review. No other compensation was given. Regardless, all opinions are 100% my own.
