In today’s economy, I am sure that most people are content with simply having a job. I know Colby is happy with the fact that he has a steady income coming in… sorta… for now.

Job Situation in Limbo

I mentioned in an earlier post that his job at the insurance agency he works for may be in limbo.

Colby has a P&C license in Texas with a large insurance company {well, let’s just say that we are “in good hands” whenever “mayhem” happens} but works for a small, 3-person office.

His agent informed him last month that if they did not sell a life insurance policy {which Colby has no control over since he is not licensed to sell those products} that their contract with the company would be pulled.

As far as we know at this point, no life policy was sold. The agent meets with a representative from the company in 2 weeks. This basically leaves Colby’s job, and our only source of income, in limbo.

But… I am continuing to hold onto my “I can do this” mantra!

We search for job postings daily and have had a few hits here and there.

Unfortunately, finding part-time work is much easier than full-time right now, but I do not think part-time will keep our family of 7 fed, sheltered and clothed. So, we press on.

After all, we are not completely sure what the outcome is going to be, but we want to be prepared.

We received a brochure in the mail yesterday about the local school district hiring school bus drivers and I told Colby to call about it. It’s part-time, but the part-time pay is good and, well, it would be something coming in.

Colby thinks I am kidding, but I keep telling him to take the part-time driving job and then he could be home with me during the day to help me do Social Media Management. Seriously! I think we can do it!

I do have a college education and have continued my learning through online programs and such.

He has over 10 years of customer service and sales experience would be great in helping me close some deals. I think it could work. He worries about benefits, which is totally understandable, but I worry more about the finances.

We are continuing to pray our way through it and know that God already has a plan. I am talking to God daily about this blog and the opportunities it can bring to generate enough revenue to help keep us above water.

Sigh, I can do this!

What has been a bit stressful is the fact that we leave on Tuesday for Bloggy Conference in Ohio and, although I never scored a sponsor, we are still going.

I am set up as the Newbie Blog Squad Leader and I am bound and determined to be there and do my job. I am excited about going and am looking forward to learning more. I am hoping to further develop my skills and get this blog up and going at full force.

Plus, we are utilizing the time as our annual family vacation and our kids are excited about going.

So, coming back to the topic at hand, I need to help bring in some revenue since our future income sources are up in the air as of now. Yet, again, I know that we can do this!

Our family has been through plenty together and have even survived 6 months of no income after Colby was laid off about 5 years ago.

We have been there, done that, and {although we do not want to} can do it again if we must. WE can do this!

Praying for open doors: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” ~Matthew 7:6-8
