Hello Kitty Picnic

Hello Kitty Picnic with Sanrio Friends

Hello Kitty PicnicJust the mention of the name “Hello Kitty” and my 7 year old Princess is all over it. Therefore, when she saw the Hello Kitty® Picnic with Sanrio Friends game she could not wait to play it. The game involves helping Hello Kitty and Sanrio prep for a picnic in the park. As you play through 10 mini-games, you collect the items you need for the picnic and to decorate the rooms in Hello Kitty’s house. Plus, you can earn apples in order to unlock even more items for continued play.

As you complete each of the mini-games, you earn apples based on how well you did. Some games are more challenging than others so you earn up to 3 apples. These apple rewards then unlock decoration pieces that can be used in the Dressing Up scene. This was perhaps my daughter’s favorite part of the game: dressing Hello Kitty in various outfits and accessorizing each of them. Playing dress up is what she loves to do in real life… so it was only natural that she enjoy it virtually as well.

The game uses a narrator which helps the younger crowd that may not be proficient in their reading skills yet. Another good feature of the game, especially when you have more than one child, is that the mini-games can involve 2 players. There is a pass-and-play mode using a single handheld system, as well as a local mutli-player mode using a multi-card. The pass and play situation worked well enough for the girls and I was very grateful for that.

Hello Kitty Picnic

Overall, Princess enjoyed playing the game. I believe JJ, my 9 year old, prefers games with a bit more of a challenge, but she still played along. The Hello Kitty allure is sure to bring in its loyal fans though. And dressing up Hello Kitty was completely worth it for my princess!
