Few of Our Favorite Things : 2014 Toyota Sienna

You know the song, “My Favorite Things,” right? It is one of my favorites from The Sound of Music, which is also one of my all-time, must-watch all the time movies. As our time with the 2014 Toyota Sienna comes to an end in a few weeks, we began to list our favorite things about the minivan and this song came to mind:

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Our Favorite Things

After driving and riding in the Toyota Sienna from Texas to Florida and then across our own city and state a bit more, our family has become quite fond of the minivan. I asked each of the kids and Colby to tell me what they liked best and share their thoughts below.

4 year old daughter:

Without a doubt, the Dual-View Entertainment Center will be her most-missed feature. In fact, since it keeps her entertained on long road trips, I believe we will all miss the convenience of it. She always asks to take the “white car” because she knows that she can watch a movie. We have yet to use the split-screen mode, but being able to utilize the wide screen as we travel down the road has been ideal for us. Pop in a great DVD and everyone can enjoy the ride in a bit of peace.

8 year old daughter:

The second row of the Sienna features both adjustable ottomans and armrests for the captain’s chairs. Apparently having the ability to recline back in the chair, kick up her feet on her own personal ottoman, and watch a movie as we drive is the epitome of good times when you are 8.

10 year old daughter:

As you recline back in the middle row captain’s seats, with your feet up on the ottoman, you can see the wide open sky above. The rear moonroof slides into the ceiling and the passengers can see the stars at night or blue skies during the day. As a dreamer, I can see why this is her favorite thing about the Sienna. Being able to have an open sky above her and a wish in her heart, the moonroof completely fits her.

wireless headphones

16 year old son:

It is actually a bit comical the way that my son looks at his favorite features. For starters, he likes the wireless headphones that come with the Sienna. While the girls watch their movies… with the headphones… he can listen to music or actually hear our conversation. In addition to the 2 sets of wireless headphones, there is also a jack in the rear seat area for plugging in another pair. So all three girls can have their own. Second, he appreciates the fact that the arm rests on the captain seats are adjustable. It makes for a more comfortable, personal ride. Finally, the automatic doors are his 3rd favorite. Why? Well, not only are they easy to open and close, but they also help prevent the girls from opening the door and hitting the car next to us. Yes, this is how he thinks. He is just like his mom!

Colby:

Considering Colby is a man, of course he is going to focus on the engine and build of the vehicle. With 266 hp and the only minivan in its class that offers available All-Wheel Drive, it offers stability and efficiency. The AWD system uses information sent from various sensors to transmit only the necessary amount of torque to the front and rear wheels. All of the systems together provide comfort on the road and better handling behind the wheel.

Myself:

I am a tech geek. Besides the many safety features, I am a big fan of the many technological aspects of the minivan… some of which coincide with the safety of the Sienna. For instance, the Rain-Sensing windshield wipers can detect the amount of rain on your windshield and then adjust the speed automatically. In addition, the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert will help you see vehicles that are in your blind spot. This one particular feature alone has been a great help for us on the busy Dallas highways! Not to mention, the Panorama Camera with an integrated backup camera, 4-disc CD changer, SiriusXM Radio, and hands-free phone capability and music streaming via Bluetooth® wireless technology. See what I mean? So many techy gadgets to explore and utilize.

What features of the 2014 Toyota Sienna would be on your list of favorite things?

I am sure I could have gone to list several more. There is not much we do not like!
