Disclosure: The following trip to Branson and Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede has been provided courtesy of US Family Guide. All experiences and thoughts are 100% our own.

Sitting here in our amazing condo at the Thousand Hills Resort, my husband and I are ever so grateful for the opportunity Staci has given us. Not only could we use a vacation with the recent addition of our fifth child, but we LOVE Branson. I remember growing up only a few hours away from all that this town has to offer, and visiting quite frequently. As a child, Branson ranked right up there with Disneyland, no place was better to spend time as a family! The same giddiness came as we read through our incredible itinerary for this trip. We have got some adventure packed days ahead of us, and I can’t wait to share with you all about it. Today was no less than stellar. We were special guests at Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede.

Dixie Stampede

The building alone warms your soul with all it’s southern charm, and you should expect nothing less inside. From the staff to the food, the Dixie Stampede proves to be fun for everyone. Make sure you arrive to the show early because the pre-show entertainment is hilarious. Plus you’ll want to do a little shopping in the massive gift store. I know we sure did. Once it’s time for the main event to begin, the crowd quickly heads into the arena.

Be prepared to cheer your hearts out because the crowd is split into two sides. The North and the South. We love a little competition and having audience interaction is honestly genius on their part. Now you’re not just watching a show and eating food but you become a part of the act too. That’s what brings people back if you ask me. But you need something to cheer for, right?! How about these talented performers competing in events such as barrel racing, log rolling, and pig races. Let’s not forget the ostriches. Who would have thought racing those birds would be so funny?

It’s not all competition though. Riders perform outstanding tricks, as well as beautiful choreography by actors telling the story of the West. Which happens to include live buffalo and longhorns. I was amazed!

Dixie Feast

Now, a show like this seems to be a rarity nowadays, but you can have a great performance and lose it all with bad food. Thankfully the Dixie Stampede paired their top notch performance with an incredible dining experience. The amount of food you get is unreal and so delicious. In fact, their Signature Creamy Vegetable Soup is a clear favorite. I could have eaten 4 bowls…in one sitting. Yes, it was THAT good. But don’t expect to use traditional silverware while enjoying your meal. Nope. You’ll be using the utensils the good Lord gave you, your fingers. Don’t let that scare you though! Once the meal is finished, you’ll be provided a warm, wet cloth to clean those digits.

If you’re wanting fun, delicious entertainment, then the Dixie Stampede is where it’s at. A good, wholesome time will be had by all.

Check back to see what tomorrow’s adventures hold.
