One Weekend in LA : 5 Disney Events : 1 Kevin Costner

Disney disclosure

If you ask my kids they will tell you how much I adore “feel-good” movies. And 9 times out of 10 they have a sports theme. You know it’s true. When I watched McFarland, USA on my last Disney trip, I was deeply moved. I still tell people about it. Therefore, being invited back for the official release of the film is truly an honor.

Not to mention, the idea of interviewing Kevin Costner is kind of amazing. I mean, when Colby and I were dating “way back when,” our favorite movie to watch together was Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. So, yeah, getting an opportunity to sit down and talk to Kevin Costner about McFarland, USA, is definitely going to be a highlight to this trip. Plus, I understand we will be not only be talking with other cast members, but the real-life inspirations behind the movie. Y’all, you have no idea how incredibly cool that is to me. Again, once you see the movie you will understand.

Have I mentioned that I love this movie?! Like, seriously. It’s amazing.

Okay, in addition to the new film release of McFarland, USA, we will also be given some face time with the filmmakers of Big Hero 6. After attending the red carpet and meeting several of the stars, including Ryan Potter (Hiro) and Scott Adsit (Baymax), I am thrilled to talk to them more! In case you’re wondering, Ryan Potter is a sweetheart and Scott, although tall, looks nothing like Baymax in real life. Ha! I can’t wait to hear what they have to say as we discuss the upcoming in-home release of Big Hero 6. And I know my 5 year old will keep it on loop at the house once it arrives in our home! “On Top of the World” is her favorite song to sing at the moment while flying her Baymax through the house.

Ryan Potter as Hiro

But, in true Disney style, that’s not all. We are also going to attend a press day at DisneyToon studios (one of my favorite places to visit) for the in-home release of Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast. This includes an interview with the filmmakers, as well as Ginnifer Goodwin who is the voice of “Fawn.”

As big fans of Tinker Bell and her fairy friends, I am excited about getting an inside look at this one. Always fun to hear the behind-the-scenes with animation.

Fresh Off the Boat - ABC

You may recall that Disney also owns ABC. Working with both is a treat and on this trip we will take a look at the new family comedy, Fresh Off the Boat (premiering February 10th at 8pm ET) , and meet with the show’s Writer and Executive Producer, Nahnatchka Kahn as well as other cast from the show. And… screen Disney Channel’s upcoming film, Bad Hair Day (premiering February 13th at 8pm ET).

Bad Hair Day

My girls have already completely filled me in on this movie. I didn’t even have to tell them the name of the movie. They just knew when I mentioned a Disney Channel film. I have a feeling they are going to want to hear all about this one the moment I get home!

Whew. We are going to have one fun-filled, action-packed weekend in LA. Be sure to follow along on Twitter and Instagram to hear about it all as it happens!

Have any questions for any of the interviews on the trip?

I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on what we should ask. Leave me a comment or tweet them to me. I will ask what I can.
