Are you planning on taking a cruise soon? Have you thought about how much preparation needs to go into packing for a ship? Planning ahead is key in many areas of the packing process. And if you’re going to be spending any amount of time in the sun, sunscreen is essential! Banana Boat® sun care products are tested in seven conditions and provides a variety of options for sun protection.

Planning Ahead is Key on a cruise

Planning Ahead

We actually just got back from a cruise this past weekend. 7 days on a large ship definitely requires a bit of planning. There is no throwing stuff in a bag and hoping for the best. You can’t exactly run to the local Walmart if you forget something. And, truth is, if you forget toiletries, etc, they will most likely cost you twice as much on the ship. Therefore, pack wisely!

Check the weather for the duration of your trip! Each port of call, as well as the sea days in between. Unless you plan on spending every day in your cabin (who does that) you need to be prepared. Even though we were cruising the Caribbean, we really only had a full 2 days of sunshine. But don’t think you can’t burn on cloudy days! You still need protection.

TIP: Be sure to apply 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of sunscreen to you and your kids’ entire bodies 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming or excessive sweating.

Do a little research and know what types of activities will be offered on board. There may be elegant dining nights, costume parties, themed children events, and more. The more you know, the better prepared you will be.

Speaking of outfits, if you plan on spending your days lounging poolside… or actually in the pool… think about bringing two swimsuits. With no real way to dry your clothes on board, if you prefer to put on a dry suit, or just want to switch it up, two swim suits can be especially helpful. Again, don’t forget the sunblock if you’re poolside! Banana Boat® has great products that offer multi-skin benefits, such as water-resistance, ease of application and comfort.

TIP: Make sunscreen application fun for kids. Make up lyrics to your own melody to sing while applying sunscreen. It keeps them engaged and makes it feel like less of a chore.

Bring a camera. Whether you use your smartphone or have an actual camera to bring along, do it. You are going to want to capture the memories. I realize most of us have our phones with us at all times, but just in case, at least I am putting it out there. Snap away when the moment arises… but never miss the moment to do so!
