Remember that delicious French Toast Casserole I made last month in my new Lodge bake ware from Market Street? The kids loved it! Really! They ate every last bit of it before I even had a chance to go back for seconds. It began a sort of breakfast revolution in the house and we have been trying other fabulous recipes. The newest one isn’t really new… but a re-introduction: Breakfast Casserole with Sausage.

Breakfast Casserole with Sausage

We used to have it often but seemed to take it off our menu years ago. It was always a favorite for gatherings. It is easy to make and tastes great, so I decided we needed to bring it back. The Lodge 12.8″ rectangular roaster from Market Street would make the perfect dish for it and I was just looking for another reason to use it. After all, the bakeware is easy to clean up and can be ready to use for your next casserole in no time.

So, let’s start cooking:

Ingredients:

  • 1 can crescent rolls
  • 6 sausage patties, ground
  • 10 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • black pepper, optional
  • cheese, shredded

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°. Spray casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. Ground sausage patties and cook over medium heat until done. Drain grease. Remove from heat.
  3. Open crescent rolls and roll out dough. Press evenly into bottom of casserole dish. Top with cooked sausage. crescent rolls for breakfast casserole
  4. Whip eggs, milk, and pepper in bowl. Pour over sausage.
  5. Top with shredded cheese. Do not stir. egg sausage casserole
  6. Bake in oven for 20-25 minutes until eggs are set and crust is golden brown. Cool and serve.
