How To Create Better Family Vacation Memories

You don’t realize it at the time, but family vacations are a special time in your life. Once your kids grow up, they likely won’t happen again—not in the same format anyway.

It’s imperative, therefore, to create amazing memories of your times together. But how can you do this?

How To Create Better Family Vacation Memories

Let’s take a look at some of your options.

Develop Your Own Traditions

It’s a good idea to develop your own traditions on vacation as this is something that helps to set your family apart from everyone else.

Doing something unique allows you to forge strong bonds that kids will remember for the rest of their lives. It could be anything, from singing in the car to going on long walks together. It could also be the kind of food you eat to celebrate.

Just make sure that it’s original.

Take A Waterproof Camera

Modern smartphones take incredible photos in the dry. But if you’re like most families, your summer vacation will revolve heavily around water. And in those situations, regular electronics aren’t much use.

Good news, though: companies like GoPro have waterproof cameras that you take with you in the swimming pool, sea or water park, allowing you to capture shots no matter where you happen to be.

What’s more, they’re incredibly easy to use. It saves you from risking hundreds of dollars of damage. Just make sure that you wear it on the end of a lanyard so you don’t drop it in the midst of all the action.

Create Your Own Travel Diary

Here’s another cool thing you can do together as a family while on vacation: create a travel diary. This way, you can create better vacation memories. Start by sticking some photos from the day in the diary and then add some writing around it.

If your kids are old enough, you could get them to join it too. It’s a great way for them to develop their writing skills, even if they’re not in class!

Add Music To Your Social Posts

When you learn how to add music to Instagram post stories, it makes them so much better. Not only do you get to show off your family adventures, but you also create an atmosphere too.

Be sure to choose a piece of music that really captures the spirit of your vacation—something perhaps that reflects the local area. You might also want to choose a tune that has a special meaning for your family.

In the future, it is something that will make you feel incredibly nostalgic.

Get Some Digital Photo Frames

Digital photo frames are wonderful inventions that allow you to display whatever photos you want anywhere in your home. So when you get back, you can have your favorite vacation photos on rotation if you like. Put them in the living room, hallway, kitchen and even bedrooms.

Bring A Keepsake Jar With You

When you go on vacation, you’ll inevitably collect various objects—little trinkets that form part of your adventure. Instead of disposing of these, try collecting them in a keepsake jar. It could be something like a shell you find at the beach or a receipt from a restaurant you visit.

Whatever it is, make sure that it has significance so you keep  looking back at it in years to come.

Keep A Personal Travel Diary

At the time of your vacation, a personal travel diary is a practical item that you can use to organize yourself. It tells you what you’re doing and when. But it can also be a great place to collect things like disposable hotel key cards, concert stubs, and plane tickets.

What’s more, it’s a great way to avoid the risk of losing various items that might fall out of your bag or down the side of your seat.

Make It A Performance

We tend to think of vacation as passive affairs. We soak up the sunshine, the entertainment and the food. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, when you make your vacation a performance, you can actually create even better memories.

So what does that mean in practice? Well, it’s pretty simple really: you make yourselves the star of the show somehow. So, for instance, you might join in with a local community event or take the mic for karaoke.

Go With Friends

Lastly, you might also consider going away with friends. This way, you can combine your vacation traditions and learn from each other. Plus, having extra kids around provides great entertainment for your children.

Now go make family vacation memories!
