Mickey Star Wars Cookies

In celebration of the movie, we have finally found “the cookies you are looking for” in the kitchen. These awesome Mickey Mouse Chewbacca and R2D2 Star Wars Cookies will, no doubt, be the perfect addition to your next Star Wars themed party!

The Star Wars cookie recipe is the same for each but the royal icing colors and decorating directions will vary a bit:

Cookie Directions:

  1. Cream the soft butter with the sugar until the combination is smooth — not grainy to the touch — in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add all 4 eggs at one time. Continue to mix.
  3. Add the vanilla. Continue mixing.
  4. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together; then add the dry mixture to the wet mixture.
  5. Continue mixing to make sure all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  6. Make the dough into a ball, wrap it in cling wrap completely covering the entire dough ball.
  7. Put in the refrigerator for about 6 hours or overnight. Check to see if the dough is firm.
  8. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  9. Pull the cookie dough out of the refrigerator and sit it out to soften up a bit.
  10. Put flour out on the wood cutting board, rub flour on the rolling pin, and work some flour into the batter, if needed.
  11. Roll the dough out on the cutting board and using the plaque cookie cutter begin to make your cookies.
  12. Line the cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  13. Using a metal spatula move the cut cookies to the parchment lined cookie sheet.
  14. Bake at 325°F for 8 minutes. Check to see if cookies are thoroughly baked.
  15. Take the Star Wars cookies off of the cookie sheet and put on a wire rack to cool completely (approximately 10 minutes).
  16. Decorate according to directions below.

Royal Icing Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients — except food coloring — in a mixing bowl mixing on medium speed for 4 minutes. If icing is not stiff enough, add 1/4 cup powdered sugar.
  2. Take out 1 TBSP of icing, add several drops of red gel food coloring. Stir to mix.
  3. Take out 3 TBSP of icing, add several drops of blue gel food coloring. Stir to mix.
  4. Divide rest of the icing into three parts. In the first bowl, add several drops of brown gel food coloring, stir to blend.
  5. Divide the remaining 2/3 of icing into three equal parts. In the first bowl, add several drops of grey gel food coloring. Stir to mix. In the second bowl, add several drops of black gel food coloring. Stir to mix. Keep third bowl of icing white.
  6. Spoon each color of icing into individual frosting bags with a #5 tips. Twist the open end of the bag to push the icing to the tip.

Chewbacca Mickey:

  1. Use picture of Chewbacca Mickey as a reference.
  2. Outline each of Mickey cookie in brown and allow to dry for 30 seconds. Fill in cookies with *thinner brown icing. (*Squeeze half of brown icing into a bowl then add 1 tsp of water to this and mix it in). Allow to dry for about 30 seconds. Leave rest of icing in frosting bag for later use on the cookies.   3. Continue to follow Chewbacca’s picture as an outline and draw shoulder belt in two separate lines in the white royal icing. Allow white belt to dry for 30 seconds. Add brown belt loops to white belt using the brown icing.
  4. Allow cookies to dry for 5-10 hours.

Star Wars Mickey R2D2 cookie decorating

R2D2 Mickey:

  1. Use picture of R2D2 Mickey as an outline.
  2. Outline each of the R2D2 ears on cookies in black. Allow to dry for about 30 seconds. Fill in ears on cookies with the *thinner black icing. (*Squeeze half of black icing into a bowl then add 1 tsp of water to this and mix it in). Allow to dry for about 30 seconds. Leave rest of icing in the frosting bag for later use on the cookies.
  3. Outline top half of R2D2 in grey icing. Allow several seconds for the outlining to dry. Fill in the top half of R2D2 with *thinner grey icing. (*Squeeze half of grey icing into a bowl then add 1 tsp of water to this and mix it in). Allow 30 seconds to dry. Outline bottom half of R2D2 in white icing. Allow 30 seconds to dry. Leave the rest of the icing in the frosting bag for later use on the cookies.
  4. On top half of the cookie, near top of the head, add a small square in blue icing. Allow to dry for 30 seconds; then add a small black dot.
  5. Just above half way line between grey and white halves, add three small squares in blue icing. Allow 30 seconds for these to dry. One the third small blue square, add a small red dot. Next to the small square with the red dot, add a small grey dot. Allow it 30 seconds to dry before you add the smaller black dot. On the end of the head add a small square in the blue icing.
  6. Draw a line with blue icing dividing the white bottom and grey top. On white bottom half, add three more lines in blue icing. Outline entire R2D2 cookie in black icing.
  7. Allow cookies to dry for 5-10 minutes.
