Best Beach Holidays for British People in Spring

Spring is the perfect time to swap the UK’s grey skies and never-ending mix of rain and sunshine for golden beaches and scorching sun.

By the time March and April roll around, we’ve all had enough of the unpredictable British weather, and a beach getaway feels like the best way to shake off winter’s miserable, lasting hold on us.

Traveling before the summer rush means fewer crowds, more comfortable temperatures, and better value for flights and accommodation.

Majorca, Spain

By April, temperatures often reach the low 20s, warm enough for sunbathing but not too hot for exploring, making Majorca weather in spring relatively mild , which makes it an excellent choice for an early beach holiday.

The island’s beaches range from lively resorts like Playa de Palma to quiet coves such as Cala Llombards, where you can relax without the summer crowds.

Spring is also a great time to experience Majorca beyond the beach. The Serra de Tramuntana mountains provide stunning coastal walks, and Palma’s historic old town is ideal for a day of sightseeing.

Algarve, Portugal

Portugal’s Algarve coast is a fantastic choice if you want a mix of stunning beaches, dramatic cliffs, and delicious food.

Spring brings warm temperatures, usually around 18-22°C, and the Atlantic breeze keeps it comfortable.

The beaches are spectacular, from the wide golden sands of Praia da Rocha to the secluded beauty of Praia da Marinha, where limestone cliffs meet clear blue waters.

While the beaches are the main attraction, the Algarve offers much more. You can take a boat trip through the famous Benagil Cave, or wander the cobbled streets of Lagos. With direct flights from the UK and reasonable springtime prices, it’s an easy and rewarding escape.

Canary Islands, Spain

If you’re after guaranteed warmth, the Canary Islands are a safe bet. With spring temperatures sitting comfortably between 22-26°C, you’ll find perfect beach conditions without the intense summer heat.

Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura each offer something different, but all have excellent beaches and plenty of sunshine.

Tenerife’s Playa de las Teresitas is great for a laid-back beach day, while Fuerteventura’s Corralejo Dunes provides endless stretches of soft sand. If you enjoy water sports,

Lanzarote’s Playa de Famara is ideal for surfing, and Gran Canaria’s Maspalomas Beach is famous for its rolling dunes.

Beyond the beaches, volcanic landscapes, charming villages, and excellent seafood make the Canary Islands a well-rounded holiday choice.

Dubai, UAE

For those looking for a glamorous escape, Dubai’s spring climate is perfect. With temperatures hovering around 25-30°C, you get guaranteed sunshine without the extreme summer heat.

The city’s beaches are immaculate, from the exclusive resorts along Jumeirah Beach to the free public sands of Kite Beach, where you can take in views of the Burj Al Arab.

Dubai is all about luxury, and its beachside hotels offer world-class service, infinity pools, and private beach access.

If you want a break from sunbathing, you can explore the city’s souks, visit the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa, or take a desert safari.

Spring offers the best of both worlds—warm weather without the summer chaos. Whether you prefer the charm of the Mediterranean, the dramatic coastlines of Portugal, or the exotic allure of the Middle East, there’s a beach holiday waiting for you.
