As students prepare to head back to school, you can bet they are doing what they can to look their best. There are new clothes to purchase, fresh haircuts to style, and possibly even more long-term changes on the horizon. In my middle daughter’s case, she is looking to improve her smile as she heads into middle school. Invisalign Teen® will help provide her with a great smile, while allowing her to focus on building confidence and doing well in school.
As we have researched and learned more about Invisalign Teen, as a parent, I am excited to hear about the compliance indicators. These indicators will allow the orthodontist to know if the child/teen has been wearing their aligners as often as they should be. In order to achieve maximum results, it is suggested that the aligners are worn at least 20-22 hours a day. The compliance indicators act as a built-in assurance check. Blue indicators on each aligner fade over time when they are used properly allowing the orthodontist to track compliance. Of course, a bit of motivation and incentive at home can help as well.
I am not above offering a reward or incentive system for the kids. Working to earn an item or outing they want is a beneficial life skill. Therefore, as they complete each tray, we can offer a reward for proper compliance. Plus, if they are able to finish their treatment within the suggested time frame, we can offer a greater “prize” to show them we appreciate how well they did.
Let your teen know that you and him/her are working towards the same goal. Both of you want your child to look their best and have a beaming smile with Invisalign Teen. Set goals for what you both believe can be achieved after each set of trays or by the end of the overall treatment. Talk about the end result and get excited for each goal met along the way.
Celebrate with Others
Head over to Invisalign Teen and take a look at the success stories. Celebrate treatment stories from their peers as they share their new smiles. Nothing like a few real-life stories and pictures to motivate them to want the same.
