Did you know that the first Airstream hit the roads in 1931?

A man, Wally Byam, had a dreamto build a travel trailer that would move like a stream of air.”

He wanted to allow travelers to have first-class accommodations anywhere. Alas, the Airstream was born.

During my childhood, I remember seeing Airstream trailers on the road when we would take our summer road trips.

Their distinct riveted aluminum trailer is hard to miss on the road.

Fun Fact: Every one of the rivets on an Airstream travel trailer are put in by hand.

While on our own #LiveRiveted road trip last week, through a partnership with both Airstream and Ford, we discovered just how well-known the name is.

At every gas station and KOA camp, we had strangers come up to ask about the 2018 Tommy Bahama® 19CB Travel Trailer we were pulling.

The Special Edition “Tommy Bahama” badging and window graphics no doubt made the trailer stand out. At least it was obvious to us, based on the glances we got, that this trailer made a bold statement and demanded to be noticed.

Once you stepped inside, it was more of the same.

The beach-house-on-the-go feeling was found in the small details inside as well, which featured:

  • Caribbean-style matte-finish cabinetry
  • OceanAir wood blinds
  • floral accents
  • stitched leather cabinet handles
  • luxury woven flooring
  • and more

And don’t let the 19′ size fool you when it comes to space. Just inside the door, you’ll find roomy dinette seating that serves a dual purpose once you transform it into a full-size bed.

The galley space lines both sides of the trailer with the familiar tools of your kitchen at home: stove, oven, sink, and refrigerator.

The back half of the trailer features a new bi-fold door that folds in for more space in the bedroom and out for more space in the bathroom.

This means you can easily get the space you need by closing the door in or out based on your needs.

Don’t worry, if you’re used to more modern conveniences, such as surround sound, you will discover that inside too.

You can easily play music from the Polk Audio System with XM radio or via Bluetooth, stream shows on the Smart TV or play your favorite DVDs.

After all, don’t forget, the Airstream was built on the premise of having first-class accommodations anywhere.

“Adventure is where you find it, any place, every place, except at home in the rocking chair.”

—Wally Byam
