Adorable Golden Retriever Mix Breeds You Will Fall In Love With

Almost everyone loves dogs, right?! They are, as the saying goes, a man’s best friend. In the US alone, there are an estimated 89.7 million pet dogs!

Clearly, then, people love their dogs, as that means almost 1 in 3 of us owns a dog.

Dogs, though, come in all shapes and sizes. If you are in an apartment in New York City, you’d probably want a toy-sized or smaller dog, but, if you happen to live in the rolling countryside of the Midwest, you might opt for a larger breed.

Adorable Golden Retriever Mix Breeds You Will Fall In Love With

There are so many breeds to choose from, alongside all the mix breeds, that it can be hard to choose. Let’s take a look at one of the most popular dogs—the golden retriever—and some of its mixed breeds. You’ll definitely fall in love with one of these!

The Golden Retriever

One of the true poster boys for dogs everywhere, the golden retriever is a gorgeous dog. If you asked a child to draw what a dog looked like, they’d likely draw something that looked a little like a golden retriever. It is just a gorgeous, timeless, classic dog!

Originally bred as a gun hunting dog, the golden retriever would fetch shot birds such as grouse or pheasants on behalf of the hunters. It, therefore, is a medium-large breed with plenty of energy.

If you are looking for a slow, quiet, dog, this is not the breed for you! Saying that golden retrievers have excellent temperaments and are extremely loyal. So, even if they are big and full of beans, they’re certainly excellent pets.

Miniature Goldendoodles

The first of the adorable cross breeds of the golden retriever is one of the world’s favorites—the miniature Goldendoodle. These mini Goldendoodles are excellent choices for so many reasons.

Firstly, they are super small and cute. This makes them the dream dog for someone with a smaller home or maybe small children.

Secondly, they are truly adorable in terms of personality. They have the fight and attitude of a poodle, but the calmness and best-friend-like traits of a golden retriever. Better still, they’re super easy to train.

Another benefit of Goldendoodles is the fact that they are often hypoallergenic, meaning that those of you with allergies should be able to love and hug them without much—or any—allergic reaction. They shed very little hair, so they are a great dog for anyone with sensitivities!

Golden Cocker

A slightly bigger mix, potentially with even more energy, is the golden cocker spaniel. As the name suggests, this is a mixed breed of the golden retriever and the cocker spaniel.

Due to a cocker’s smaller size, this breed will be smaller than a classic golden retriever but not as small as the miniature Goldendoodle.

Cockers have a lot of energy and are prone to chew slippers, cables, and all sorts, so, when these dogs are puppies, you need to keep an eye on them! For that minor fault, though, you’ll be getting an exceptionally loyal and well-trained dog in the form of a golden cocker. Both parent breeds are working dogs and have been family pets for decades.

Golden Mountain Dog

Let’s go a little larger—the golden mountain dog. This is a mixed breed of the retriever (of course) and the Bernese mountain dog. These dogs suit the cold very well, so if you’re up in the mountains or a colder part of the country, these dogs will suit you well. They love being outside and require a large amount of activity every day.

If that fits your lifestyle, then a golden mountain dog could be the right pup for you to fall in love with! They’re great around kids, too.

Golden Dox

Taking you back to the cutest of the cute dogs here with the golden dox. These dogs are truly a sight to behold. Miniature dachshunds are cute enough, but combine them with a retriever, and you get a gloriously long-haired sausage dog!

A golden dox is small, fun, full of personality, and a real cutie. Once again, if you live in an enclosed space or inner city, a little golden dox could be the perfect dog for you.

As you can see, there are many different types of retriever cross breeds that suit just about everyone. There are plenty more, too! If you want a mixed breed dog that has all the loyalty and personality of a golden retriever, these above are a great place to start.

No matter where you live or what your lifestyle is, there’s a golden retriever mix suited to you.
