This guy. We’ve been through some things over the past 30 years.
Marriage isn’t easy. It requires work on both sides.
And the only thing I’ve retained from our (required) per-marital counseling is this:
- Love is a verb.
- Love requires action.
- Love is a choice you make every day.
We’ve made mistakes. Worked through them. Learned to compromise. Decided to listen.
We fought hard for our marriage.
In the beginning, it was fighting others.
Then it was fighting each other.
And then we finally learned to fight FOR one another.
27 years later and I’ve never loved this man more.
He loves and accepts me as I am, and I do the same for him.
Our marriage isn’t perfect, but it’s truly something amazing.
Not to mention, our greatest accomplishment after all these years? Our children.
We’ve raised some pretty amazing kids.
And now we’re relishing every moment with our grandchildren.
