2015 Lexus RC F Combines Sport Style with Luxury Feel
There is no mistaking the distinct signature spindle grille of a Lexus. And when you see one coming at you with an “F” in the pattern you know you’re looking at the RC F. The 2015 Lexus RC F combines a sport style with a luxury feel.
2015 Lexus RC F
Looking at the 2015 Lexus RC F from the outside, you see a sports car ready to drive. In fact, can we discuss what exactly the “F” stands for?
It stands for Fuji Speedway, where Lexus conducts much of its high-speed development. It could also stand for fun, as defined by three key elements: response, a continuous- acceleration feeling, and a sound that excites.
And that revving of the engine when you start the car definitely brings excitement! Nothing like the strong growl of the engine when you turn the vehicle on. The aerodynamic RC F is designed for performance.
In fact, the RC F is the most powerful Lexus V8 performance car to date with features that include:
- wider wheels and tires
- active rear wing
- air scoops
- cooling ducts
- available carbon fiber body features components
- functional stacked exhaust tailpipes
Oh, what is an active rear wing? Once you hit 50 mph a wing will deploy from the trunk lid to increase downforce with speed. Once you drop down below 25 mph it will automatically retract. Kinda cool, right?! You can also control the rear wing with a push of a button within the car.
The driver can also select a driving mode for the 5.0-liter V8 engine. Using the Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management (VDIM) system the vehicle coordinates control of the powertrain, ABS, electric power steering, traction control (TRAC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) systems. It is designed to anticipate a loss of traction and help coordinate the separate active safety systems of VSC, TRAC, and ABS to work in concert to correct it by seamlessly integrating control of basic “drive-turn-stop” vehicle performance. The driver has the option to pick from 4 different modes:
- Normal mode for regular VDIM control
- VDIM SPORT mode to give priority to driver control
- New EXPERT mode, which only intervenes to prevent a spin with VDIM off
- OFF setting, no control by the VDIM system
The Sport mode was Colby’s favorite to drive in as we attended the drive event and I must admit it was a smooth, fun ride. The sports seats inside the 2015 Lexus RC F conform to your body and make for a comfortable ride as well. Not to mention, they look fabulous with the contrast stitching. Even climbing into the back seat was easy and the comfort was not spared for the rear passengers.
No matter where you sit in the RC F you are going to feel both sport and luxury surrounding you.
